Re: “Both sides questioned about access, city bans,” Dec. 10 news story.
The “protection of public health, safety and welfare” as stated in the Colorado Constitution and in the rules of the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission has a bearing on the ability of Colorado residents to have a right to ban hydraulic fracturing in Colorado.
Shouldn’t this be a no-brainer for our elected officials to follow as they were sworn into office? Don’t the people of Colorado deserve this inherent right?
It is alarming that residents have to fight for their constitutional right and in turn suffer through the reported dangerous health issues involving increased respiratory and nervous system damage ranging from asthma to lung diseases, increased low fetal birth rates, and now, new allegations of cancer related to hydraulic fracturing.
