A SWAT situation at a restaurant in Watkins turned out to be a case of mistaken identity after the man, who a restaurant staff member believed entered the building with a gun, turned out to be a potential band member who entered with band equipment, officials said.

Adams County authorities surrounded Lulu’s Inn in Watkins on Friday morning around 11 a.m. after receiving reports that an armed man ran into the building.

The staff member evacuated employees and called the county sheriff’s office who sent in a robot along with a SWAT team, said sheriff’s office spokesman Jim Morgen.

The “potential” band member was detained, Morgen said, until the sheriff’s office “could figure out what was going on.”

The situation lasted about two hours.

“Obviously, there are no charges or anything,” Morgen said.

Watkins is about five miles east of where Interstate 70 and E-470 intersect.
