A Denver grand jury has indicted “Randy The Purse Guy” on charges he illegally sold knock-off purses and other merchandise for years.
Randy Lynn Hastings, 59, is charged with two felony counts of tax violation and five misdemeanor counts of trademark counterfeiting.
Prosecutors say the indictment was unsealed Monday and covers alleged crimes between January 2013 and last month.
“Hastings promoted himself as the ‘Randy The Purse Guy’ and unlawfully sold counterfeit merchandise including purses, wallets, watches and sunglasses,” a district attorney’s office news release said.
Hastings failed to collect and pay taxes on the illegal merchandise he sold, prosecutors say.
Hastings fled Colorado this year and was arrested by federal agents last week in the Minneapolis area, officials said.
