The Broncos tried out 11 players Tuesday, including 2012 first-round draft pick Trent Richardson and former Kansas State running back Daniel Thomas, as potential additions to their offseason roster, which can max out at 90 players.

Richardson, a running back who last played for the Raiders before they waived him in the preseason, was drafted by Cleveland at No. 3 in the 2012 draft. In three seasons, with Cleveland then Indianapolis, he totaled 2,944 yards from scrimmage (2,032 rushing) and 19 touchdowns.

Thomas, who was on the Bears’ preseason roster this season, played 52 games for Miami from 2011-14 and totaled 1,892 yards from scrimmage (1,480 rushing) and 13 touchdowns.

Also among the 11 tryouts were quarterback Ryan Lindley, who played 10 games in the regular and postseason for the Cardinals from 2012-14, and former University of Colorado tight end Nick Kasa.

Kasa, who was drafted by the Raiders in the sixth round of the 2013 draft, played two seasons in Oakland (2013-14). In 16 games, all in 2013, he had one reception out of five targets for 9 yards.

The other seven players who tried out for the Broncos were: running back Cyrus Gray (Texas A&M); fullbacks Mannaseh Garner (Pittsburgh) and Emil Igwenagu (Massachusetts); and wide receivers Jerrell Jernigan (Troy), Greg Little (North Carolina), Denarius Moore (Tennessee) and Devier Posey (Ohio State).

Footnotes. Former Broncos running back and 2013 second-round draft pick Montee Ball was signed to the Patriots’ practice squad… Former Broncos and Air Force offensive lineman Ben Garland was promoted to the Falcons’ active roster from their practice squad.

Both were waived by Denver in early September.
