GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — An unlicensed dentist in western Colorado will serve two years in federal prison for tax evasion.
The Grand Junction Sentinel reports (http://bit.ly/1NRsZzR ) that 69-year-old Michael E. Ho was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge Christine Arguello in Denver. Ho must also serve three years of supervised released and pay $202,442 in restitution to the IRS.
He pleaded guilty to a single count of tax evasion this summer and faced a maximum of five years in prison.
He was indicted by a federal grand jury on in 2014 on charges of evading federal taxes from 2006 to 2011.
Ho had also been practicing dentistry despite being ordered to stop by state authorities. Court records say he was never licensed and went to college to study dentistry but never received a degree.
