Xcel Energy customers in Colorado could see lower electric and gas bills in the first three months of 2016.
Xcel’s quarterly Gas Cost Adjustment filed with the state utilities commission shows a downward adjustment in energy prices from the current quarter.
The typical residential customer, using 632 kilowatt-hours of electricity, is expected to have a monthly bill of $65.41, down $3.33 from the fourth quarter.
The cost per kilowatt-hour would drop from $0.031 to $0.026 under the new price plan.
The typical residential gas bill, using 110.9 therms, should be $62.81 per month. During the current quarter, the typical residential gas bill was $55.97 for the average use of 90.4 therms. The price per therm would drop from $0.354 to $0.308.
Other charges and fees make up the rest of the bill.
If the Colorado Public Utilities Commission approves the price adjustments, the rates will go into effect on Jan. 1.
