As 2015 winds down, The Denver Post takes a look mustaches, beards and everything in between in Colorado pro sports. Unfortunately no Colorado Avalanche players made it, but perhaps a long playoff run in 2016 could produce some candidates next year.

Here’s a look at the best facial hair in Colorado sports:

Louis Vasquez, Denver Broncos offensive guard

Since joining the Broncos, Vasquez has seemingly embraced the mountain man look and has grown a strong, vibrant beard, striking fear in the trenches.

Typically clean cut in his fights, the Denver-born mixed martial artist sported awesome mutton chops during training camp for his UFC lightweight title fight, as was seen in UFC’s ” ” video.

“The mustache is symbolic of a rite of passage,” Mastroeni said in an interview with The Post in March. Without question, the best facial hair in Colorado sports belongs to the Rapids coach. Although he said he planned on wearing it the rest of his coaching career, he shaved it off on June 18, much to the chagrin of facial hair enthusiasts everywhere.

“The caterpillar,” he revealed, “turned into a butterfly.”
