BOULDER — The suspect in the fatal stabbing of a University of Colorado student during the weekend won’t face a first-degree-murder count but will face two felonies, including second-degree murder.

Ian Scheuermann, 22, is charged with killing Sean Hudson, 26, and faces a count of felony menacing for allegedly threatening another man with a knife.

Scheuermann has been released from the Boulder County Jail on $100,000 bail.

The second-degree-murder charge is a class 2 extraordinary risk felony that carries a sentence of up to 48 years in prison.
