Colorado Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov’s big week earned notice from the NHL.
Varlamov was named the league’s first star of the week after posting a 0.67 goals-against average and a .981 save percentage, leading the Avs to a 3-0-0 week. Colorado is on a five-game winning streak.
The 27-year-old has won his last six starts, allowing just six goals over that span. On the season, he has a 12-8-1 record with a 2.45 GAA and a .921 save percentage.
The Avs (17-16-1) will host the Toronto Maple Leafs (11-13-7) Monday night.
