Getting your player ready...

There’s no place in the NFL for reckless bounty hunters and that’s exactly what Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was Sunday.

The usually electrifying star, who has taken the league by storm due to his one-handed catches and sheer athleticism, was on the wrong end of many lowlights Sunday.

Coming into the game, there was a lot of hype on the matchup between Beckham and Carolina star corner Josh Norman. The Panthers defensive back got the better of Beckham on the field and also got into his head.

Beckham was flagged for three unnecessary roughness penalties, including two on one drive. He threw a punch/slap at Norman and corner Cortland Finnegan in a couple of many tussles initiated by Beckham.

The most egregious, however, was a blindside, helmet-to-helmet, full-speed hit he delivered to an unsuspecting Norman after a play was over.

“All the concussion stuff that’s going around, they’re trying to prevent head to head and if that wasn’t the blatant head to head, I don’t know what is,” Norman told ESPN Radio’s Mike and Mike Monday.

That hit alone should have been enough to garner an ejection and a suspension, but Beckham remained in the game. The NFL is reviewing the film to determine whether more discipline is needed.

How the league rules will be significant because it will signify how it handles one of the league’s now golden boys. Nothing less than a suspension will suffice or you send the message that some players are above the game. Honestly, Beckham probably deserves more than a game suspension, too.
