Authorities in southern Colorado say a 43-year-old man is in custody after shooting at officers during two car chases Saturday and Sunday across Fremont and Teller counties.
Devlin Lee Palaza of Penrose is being held in Fremont County.
Authorities say they first encountered Palaza on Saturday in Cañon City, where police tried to stop the Volkswagen Jetta he was driving, which had no license plates. Officers were shot at from the Jetta during the chase into Teller County, the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office said.
On Sunday, detectives who had identified Palaza as the driver in the Saturday chase located and tried to stop him in Penrose. Palaza again fled, officials said, and began shooting at officers.
