Re: “Lessons from Jeffco school board recall,” Dec. 22 guest commentary.
Thank you for having the courage to print the guest commentary from former Jefferson County school board member John Newkirk.
It seems that few in the media are willing to stand for truth these days, and it is deeply refreshing to see a local news outlet printing the many accomplishments of our conservative school board.
There were many of us bewildered and saddened by the recent recall. The very fact that the recalled board left Jeffco schools with a $55 million increase in cash reserves while also increasing teacher benefits by 8.8 percent should have been cause for praise from both taxpayers and teachers alike. But in a world where “good” is called “evil” and “up” is called “down,” it no longer surprises me that citizens can be bamboozled.
