Lakewood police are searching for a homeless man who has been identified as a person of interest in a Christmas Eve stabbing on an RTD bus.

The name of the man, who is being sought on two Denver police warrants, has not been released.

Steve Davis, Lakewood police spokesman, said the person of interest, who is in his mid-30s, is difficult to find because he is homeless.

The person of interest was identified after he left a piece of evidence behind on a bus after the man was stabbed.

The 33-year-old victim was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. He is expected to survive, Davis said. The name of the victim has not been released.

Police have since been able to interview the victim, who described what prompted an argument early Christmas Eve that led to the stabbing.

Davis said police are withholding details about the subject of the argument for investigatory reasons.

The on bus number 6157X, which was headed on Route 51 to Bear Valley on southbound Sheridan Boulevard.

The suspect was dressed from head to toe in a Santa Claus outfit, complete with a large white beard.

Following the stabbing, the man dressed as Santa got off the bus at Sheridan and Florida Avenue.
