A new district judge has been appointed to serve four Colorado counties.
Ramsey Lama will serve the 11th Judicial District, covering Custer, Fremont, Chaffee and Park counties, Gov. John Hickenlooper announced Thursday.
Lama practiced at his own office — Law Office of Ramsey Lama — starting in 2012, focusing mostly on criminal defense, according to the governor’s office.
Lama earned his undergraduate degree from Aquinas College in 2004 and his law doctorate from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 2008. He worked at the state public defender’s offices in Salida and Grand Junction from 2008 to 2012.
His appointment is effective Jan. 12.
The 11th District vacancy was created by the resignation of David M. Thorson.
