Colorado high school juniors will be required to take the SAT college-entrance exam instead of the ACT starting this spring (Jupiter Images)
Re: “Colorado juniors will take SAT college-entrance exam, not ACT,” Dec. 24 news story.
I am shocked by the decision of the state to change to the SAT from the ACT after all the debacles of last year’s testing and 15 years of experience by families and educators preparing students for the most important of all tests, the college entrance exam.
Schools and families have already invested tremendous resources in their children’s college exam preparation and schools have invested tremendous resources to prepare teachers to help their students.
Back when Colorado led the nation in educational initiatives, we had a comprehensive plan to initiate new standards and get schools and the public prepared. Today, we continue to keep our education system and families unprepared and off balance.
Are these and any of the current changes what are best for the kids and families of Colorado?
