A painting by English graffiti artist Banksy is seen at the entrance of the Calais refugee camp in northern France, Dec. 21. The elusive graffiti artist has depicted the late Apple guru Steve Jobs — whose biological father was from Syria — carrying a black garbage bag and an early model of the Macintosh computer. (Michel Spingler, The Associated Press)
Immigrants and their children provide a huge social, cultural and economic benefit to our society that makes us a stronger country. Steve Jobs’ biological father, Abdulfattah Jandali, was a Syrian immigrant. Jobs co-founded Apple and was a pioneer of the microcomputer revolution, providing thousands of jobs to Americans. When you see someone working on an Apple computer or talking on an iPhone, realize that technology was made possible by the son of a Syrian immigrant.
