Police, including SWAT officers surrounded a house Thursday night north of downtown Denver.

At 8:19 p.m. police tweeted that the scene was secure and there was “no additional activity.”

Several blocks were cordoned off around 24th and Lawrence streets, just off Broadway, and police were “managing a barricade operation in the area,” according to a 5:17 p.m. Denver Police Department Twitter post.

Police initially responded to area on a report of someone who was shot in the foot.

“That contact turned into a barricade,” police said on Twitter.

Police, in a tweet, said they were getting ready to deploy tear gas.

Several SWAT officers were donned in full gear, armed with rifles.

The surrounding area includes several restaurants and bars, which were busy with New Year’s Eve hosting celebrations.

Eventually, several people were arrested, police said.
