
Denver’s award-winning arts nonprofit has announced Kim Estes McCarty as its new executive director, the organization announced Tuesday.
McCarty, who most recently served as director of marketing and development with the , will officially take over Jan. 11.
“It was a difficult decision last year for me to take a step back from running PlatteForum full-time,” PlatteForum founder and former director said in a press release. “I know that Kim is the perfect choice to lead PlatteForum into a bright future.”
In her previous role at Art Students League of Denver, McCarty spent five years helping create new funding sources and increasing the League’s exposure, according to PlatteForum.
McCarty studied journalism and art at Arizona State University and continues to dabble in visual art and creative writing as a hobby. She also serves as vice president on the Board of Directors for Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe and is a member of the DAM Associates for the Denver Art Museum, in addition to having worked with a number of other corporations and nonprofits.

PlatteForum has been nationally recognized for its innovative programming, which mixes working artists with disadvantaged youth during interactive, eight-week residences. Since 2002, more than 2,200 metro area students have participated in its programs.
