Southern Colorado investigators are searching for two suspects in connection with a New Year’s Day homicide in a small San Luis Valley town.
Ivan Antonio Alforo-Sanchez, 26, was killed in an apartment in the town of Center. Authorities believe he was gunned down in the first hours of the New Year.
“It’s believed two armed men entered an apartment and shot (Alforo-Sanchez) inside the residence before fleeing the area,” the Colorado Bureau of Investigation said in a news release.
Alforo-Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Saguache County Coroner’s Office told The Denver Post on Tuesday that Alforo-Sanchez’s death has been ruled a homicide by gunshot wound.
“While it is unclear as to the relationship between the suspects and the victim, it appears they are known to one another, and that this is not a random incident,” the release said.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call CBI Agent Vahlbusch at 719-647-5944.
Center is a town of about 2,000 that sits near the intersection of Colorado 112 and U.S. 285 about 15 miles north of Monte Vista.
