
1 Purse thief at the park. A woman called police to the dog park at 17500 E. Quincy Ave. because someone broke one of her car windows and stole her purse and credit cards while she was walking her dog Dec. 19.
2 Friend fraud. A woman reported that someone hacked her friend’s Facebook account and pretended to need $300 sent via Western Union on Dec. 18. The hacker asked for the money to be sent to the 2200 block of Chambers Road, which was actually the address of another friend of the person who was being impersonated.
3 Fake money. Police were called to the Family Dollar at 1175 S. Tower Road because three suspicious $10 bills were found to be fake when an employee used an iodine pen to test them Dec. 23. The customers who passed the money had been accused of stealing from the store before, but they weren’t on scene anymore.
4 Mat drama. A former stylist at a salon at 2367 S. Xanadu Way called police Dec. 18 because she needed police to help her get her things back, including a black floor mat. After days of accusations and threats between the stylists, which police mediated, the practically worthless mat was recovered.
5 Broken window. Someone threw a rock through the front window of the Chambers Liquor Mart at 15201 E. Colfax Ave. on Dec. 20. Nothing was stolen.
6 Christmas criminals. A couple reported that someone tried to break into their home in the 1100 block of North Macon Street on Dec. 25. The screens on their back windows were removed, but the suspects didn’t get into the house.
