DANCE Americana at its most hip-shaking and energetic
Saturday. As vital, but seldom as appreciated, as jazz, hip-hop and other uniquely American art forms, American dance is getting a nod this weekend with Boulder Ballet and the Boulder Philharmonic’s “Dance, American Style.” The 7:30 p.m. show at CU’s Macky Auditorium on Jan. 16 interprets (via artistic director Ana Claire) the compositions of William Schuman, Leonard Bernstein and Aaron Copland in exuberant and athletic ways, with live accompaniment from the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra. Copland’s 1942 ballet “Rodeo” will close out the program. 1595 Pleasant St. in Boulder. $13-$25. 303-449-1343, ext. 2 or . — John Wenzel
