Mike Sullivan was recently named 2016 Citizen of the West by the National Western Stock Show. (Cyrus McCrimmon, The Denver Post)
Re: “Mike Sullivan: 2016 Citizen of the West,” Jan. 7 news story.
As a Republican who is often critical of The Denver Postap reporting, I must commend The Post and your reporter, William Porter, for the excellent article on the selection of Mike Sullivan as the 2016 Citizen of the West. The article captures the essence of Sullivan — the former Wyoming governor and U.S. ambassador to Ireland — who I have come to admire and respect and who just happens to be a Democrat and a great guy.

Congratulations to Mike Sullivan on his being named the Citizen of the West for 2016. Although I have lived in Denver for the last 40 years, I am proud to say I grew up in Cheyenne. It is a breath of fresh air to read about a politician from Wyoming who we can be proud of, as opposed to someone else I could mention who has long been a sore embarrassment to the state. For the sake of Wyoming and the rest of the West, letap hope for a future with more Mike Sullivans and no more Dick Cheneys.
