GREENWOOD VILLAGE — Kevin Owens, Finn Balor and the women’s division are ready to be pushed into World Wrestling Entertainment’s spotlight, according to retired WWE star Mick Foley.

At the end of his stand-up set Wednesday at Comedy Works South, Foley fielded questions from the audience. One member asked who should be given the opportunity to shine with the pro-wrestling company’s recent string of injuries to top stars, including Seth Rollins, John Cena and Randy Orton.

“I strongly believe — and the reason I wrote at one point — because I thought that the women deserve that spotlight and they have a couple of women who are ready to become big stars and I hope they’re given that opportunity,” Foley said.

He added: “And Kevin Owens. And somebody who’s ready like Finn Balor out of NXT. THey’re ready, they have the skill, it’s just convincing the people in charge. You talk about grabbing that brass ring, they have a lot of guys who are already to grab it — and a couple of women, too.”

Among the women he mentioned was Becky Lynch. Earlier in the Q&A, he mentioned that at a previous show, he answered that would choose to be Lynch’s manager. But he clarified that he wouldn’t so much be a manager as someone who would back her up.

“It’s obvious Becky needs someone to neutralize ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair,” . “And given my real life history with Ric, and my real life friendship with Becky, I think I could do a good job, if asked.”
