It’s been a rough year for Broncos safety and punt returner Omar Bolden. He’s had a constant battle with injuries that has caused him to missed 7 games this season.
Bolden is afraid he may miss some more time.
In the first quarter of the Broncos’ 20-13 win over the Steelers, Bolden went down with a non-contact knee injury. He was helped off the field by trainers and did not return.
The initial observation wasn’t great news as doctors told Bolden that it was a ligament issue and his knee was “loose.” Bolden said he’s scheduled for a MRI Monday and is hopeful that he’ll get a positive diagnosis.
His first reaction to the injury was “it’s sort of how my season has gone.”
Coach Gary Kubiak said Bolden was the only “big injury” after the game. It’ll be seen later on this week just how big that injury is.
Bolden was excited to return for Sunday’s playoff game after being out since Dec. 6 with a hamstring injury. His first touch was a 42-yard punt return that led to the Broncos’ opening field goal.
It was the third longest punt return in Broncos’ postseason history. Bolden has been easily the team’s most electric returner.
He had a 83-yard punt return for a touchdown to end the first half against Indianapolis in November.
Bolden is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent after the season.
