Legislators surprise Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper and his fiancee Robin Pringle as they throw rice on the couple after the Governor’s his annual State of the State address in the House chambers of the State Capitol on Jan. 14 in Denver. The Governor’s speech lasted about 45 minutes. (Helen H. Richardson, The Denver Post)

Re: “Surprised by age difference between Gov. Hickenlooper, bride,” Jan. 19 letter to the editor.

Whether or not a reader or this newspaper supports the governor’s politics and policies, why would The Post even publish the sour-grapes letter to the editor Tuesday from a woman complaining about the age disparity between him and his new wife? With all that is happening today in our world and our state, is that a newsworthy or meaty issue to be picked at? I think not.

Congratulations to the Hickenloopers.
