1 Relieving misunderstanding. A couple living in the 8800 block of Green Meadows Drive, Highlands Ranch, said they saw a man behind their home Jan. 12 who ran to a car and drove off when he saw them. One of their windows was broken the day before and they worried he had come to rob them. Police located the man using his license plate number; he said had been there to urinate in the nearby open space but got nervous and fled when he saw the residents.

2 Doggone dispute. Police were dispatched to a rural property outside Castle Rock on Jan. 9 to deal with a dispute between neighbors. One man said the dog is “a runner” and ran off his property that day onto a neighboring ranch, where it had killed several chickens the week before. One of the ranch residents helped the man look for his dog but, as they were trying to chase it, they heard gun shots. The ranch owner fired four bullets into the ground to scare the dog away. No charges were filed. (Not on map.)

3 Insurance needs. An employee of the American Family Insuranceoffice,9510 Meridian Blvd., Douglas County, reported one of her truck’s windows had been broken in the parking lot on Jan. 12.

4 BB blasted. A woman living in the 2400 block of Cove Creek Court, Highlands Ranch, reported a hole had been shot in her glass front door with a BB gun on Jan. 12.

5 No free ride. A couple living in the 11400 block of Conestoga Place, Douglas County, reported one of their sons took their Ford Excursion and had refused to return it Jan. 9. They reported the vehicle stolen and him missing.
