Wednesday. The Denver Film Society’s four-film “Origins of the Force” series is about half over, having presented 1930s serials from Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers as well as Akira Kurosawa’s “The Hidden Fortress” as influences on George Lucas’ sci-fi juggernaut “Star Wars.” Jan. 27 brings Lucas’ 1971 adult dystopia “THX-1138,” above, which started as a student film, followed by Fritz Lang’s 1927 masterpiece “Metropolis” on Feb. 3. All are co-presented with Alexandre Phillpe, the Denver-based director of “The People vs. George Lucas” and other pop-culture documentaries. 7 p.m. $8-$15. Sie FilmCenter, 2510 E.
