Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump gives a thumbs-up during a campaign stop. (Matt Rourke, The Associated Press)
Re: “British lawmakers debate whether to ban Donald Trump,” Jan. 19 news story.
And now we must wonder whether not having political action committees (PACs) could be worse than having them.
Donald Trump is self-financing his campaign. When the UK discussed banning him from the kingdom, he threatened to pull $1 billion in investments.
Now, imagine Trump is president and some poor congressperson won’t vote his way. God forbid Trump has investments in his or her state!
Trump’s personal immunity from being influenced and kept in check may be worse than the silent influence of PACs.
