A jury has been selected in the trial of a woman accused of cutting a 7-month-old fetus out of an expectant mother’s womb.
After nearly three days of jury selection, 12 jurors were selected on Tuesday, setting the stage for the trial of 35-year-old Dynel Lane. Attorneys are expected to present their opening arguments on Wednesday.
Lane has to six felony counts, including attempted first-degree murder, unlawful termination of a pregnancy and first-degree assault with a deadly weapon.
Lane is accused of on March 18, when Wilkins responded to Lane’s Craigs list ad for baby clothes. Lane allegedly attacked Wilkins in Lane’s Longmont home and cut the fetus out of her womb.
Wilkins, 27, survived the attack, but her baby died.
A nine-day trial has been scheduled in front of Boulder District Judge Maria Berkenkotter.
