Wednesday. Friends of Chamber Music sets the standard for intimate classical evenings in Denver, and this week’s concert, featuring Steven Osborne, is a good example of why the organization has earned the city’s trust. The Scottish pianist is highly regarded internationally, earning high marks for performances of works by Schubert, Stravinsky and Ravel. On Wednesday, he’ll play Schubert’s “Impromptus for Piano,” plus selections from Rachmaninoff’s “Études-tableaux” and Debussy’s “L’isle Joyeuse.” It’s a rare, and welcome, program for Denver. 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Gates Concert Hall, Newman Center for the Performing Arts, 2344 E.
