A crash involving driving under the influence caused serious injuries and closed southbound Interstate 25 south of Castle Rock Saturday morning, leading to 7-mile backups and long delays, officials said.
The southbound lanes reopened around noon, officials tweeted.
One person was ejected in the two-vehicle crash and is being taken to a local hospital, said State Patrol Trooper Alisha Danko. The victim’s condition is unknown at this time.
Southbound I-25 was closed at Lake Gulch Road after the crash left a jack-knifed truck pulling a trailer facing the wrong direction, Danko said.
Troopers responded just after 8 a.m. and called the scene a “major crash.”
Witnesses told troopers they saw a speeding car weaving in and out of traffic.
