Authorities in Gunnison County say the 38-year-old man after a chase over Monarch Pass was wanted on several warrants from out of state.

Roy Dale Gilmore, of Oklahoma, was treated at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida for non-life threatening wounds.

Police say Gilmore was driving a stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee when he led officers or sheriff’s deputies on the chase.

Investigators have not said specifically why Gilmore was shot, but say he faces charges of aggravated motor vehicle theft, second-degree assault on a police officer and criminal impersonation. He was being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Gilmore is an Oklahoma Department of Corrections “client,” , but would not elaborate.

Gilmore was contacted by Gunnison police about 11 p.m. Wednesday in downtown Gunnison. Authorities say he provided officers with a false name and date of birth.

Gilmore then fled, almost striking an officer, police said.

Officers and Gunnison County sheriff’s deputies pursued Gilmore as he headed east over Monarch Pass.

Gilmore was followed into Chaffee County, then stopped by officers and deputies and shot.
