Recapping the first round of the Class 5A girls basketball state tournament:

MOUNTAIN VISTA 68, CHATFIELD 31


In Highlands Ranch, Molly McCabe had 22 points and Chelsea Perason added 17 as the Golden Eagles (15-9) smoked the Chargers. Mountain Vista is 15-9 and next will be at Cherry Creek, Friday, in the second round. Chatfield ended 7-17.

FAIRVIEW 61, EAGLECREST 41


In Boulder, Grace O’Neill had 21 points and seven rebounds at the Knights moved to 15-9 and advanced to Friday’s second round at Brighton. The Raptors ended 7-17.

DOUGLAS COUNTY 57, GRAND JUNCTION 43


In Castle Rock, the Huskies evened their mark at 12-12 and will be at undefeated Grandview on Friday. The Tigers finished 9-15.

LIBERTY 56, PRAIRIE VIEW 34


In Colorado Springs, the Lancers climbed close to .500 (11-13) and will play in the second round at Poudre. Prairie finished 11-13.

PALMER 41, ROCK CANYON 26


In Colorado Springs, the Terrors took a low-scoring affair, moved to 10-14 and will be at Lakewood on Friday. The Jaguars finished 7-17.

REGIS JESUIT 79, WESTMINSTER 27


The Raiders climbed to 16-8 by building a 36-8 halftime lead. Elle Bevis, Emma Wade each had 12 points for Regis Jesuit, which will be at Rampart on Friday. Westy ended 9-15.

ARAPAHOE 57, POMONA 39


In Centennial, Madelyn Matthews had 20 points and Katie Crowley 13 as the Warriors 14-10 earned a second-round date at Fossil Ridge. Pomona finished 11-13.

BEAR CREEK 55, HERITAGE 38


In Littleton, the ninth-seeded Bears (11-13) earned the second round’s lone upset. They will be at defending state champion Broomfield on Friday. The eighth-seeded Eagles finished 9-15.

CHAPARRAL 65, OVERLAND 39


In Parker, the Wolverines advanced to 18-6 and a second-round matchup at Fruita Monument. The Trailblazers finished 9-15.

LOVELAND 55, LEGEND 40


In Loveland, the Indians trailed early, then took control in the second quarter. They are 15-9. The Titans finished 9-15.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN 40, COLUMBINE 13


In Fort Collins, superior defense by the Lobos paved the way to a second-round matchup at Doherty. Kiley Towne topped Rocky Mountain with nine points. The Rebels scored only one point in the second quarter and finished 7-17.

FORT COLLINS 54, ARVADA WEST 44


In Fort Collins, the Lobos broke away from a 25-all halftime score behind Karon Maitland’s 15 points and Delsie Johnson’s 12. Fort Collins will be at top-seeded Highlands Ranch in the second round. A-West finished 9-15.

CASTLE VIEW 65, RANGEVIEW 38


In Castle Rock, the SaberCats (11-13) motored to the second round. They will be at Horizon. Rangeview finished 13-10.

CHEROKEE TRAIL 72, RANGEVIEW 47


In Aurora, the Cougars (15-9) blitzed the Raiders (13-10). Cherokee Trail will be at Pine Creek on Friday.
