UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor talked about why he chose Nate Diaz over Denver’s Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone during the UFC 196 press conference on Wednesday.
“He beat Cowboy (and) Cowboy got destroyed by Dos Anjos and Nate has a win over Cowboy, so got him ahead of that one. And everybody else went running. So Nate, congratulations, you’re rich now.”
Diaz replaced lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos on Tuesday after Dos Anjos withdrew due to a foot injury. Diaz and McGregor will fight on March 5 in Las Vegas.
