El Paso County authorities have arrested a 15-year-old boy they say is responsible for a threat on social media .

Sgt. Cliff Porter, of the county sheriff’s office, said the teen was arrested about 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday.

The teen is being held at Spring Creek Youth Services Center. His name was not released.

The boy is suspected of attempting to influence a public official, a felony, and interference with faculty, staff or students at a school.

Authorities said the threat was for “significant violence.”

The sheriff’s office was notified about 11 p.m. Sunday of the threat posted on the After School social media site for Ellicott schools. Members of the chat site can anonymously post to specific school threads.

‘It was something to the effect of ‘don’t go to school Monday’ and it was followed by three pistol or revolver emoticons,” Porter said.

Porter said investigators worked with After School and the school district to identify the teen.
