Re: Hancock’s appointee raise proposal includes big boost for police chief, Feb. 20 news story.
Denver Mayor Michael Hancock. (Craig F. Walker, The Denver Post)
The Denver City Council is considering a second raise in two years for top city officials. This would be a great time for the City Council to start a new trend — taking public comments on matters such as large salary adjustments at a regular full council meeting in the evening so citizens can show support or concern. Otherwise the salary increases will just be pushed through in a block vote with a batch of other legislation with no comments from the council members, sort of like they do in Washington, D.C.
