
Jefferson County is getting a new path to connect a much-used parking area with a popular park.
Jefferson County Open Space, in partnership with Jefferson County Road and Bridge, will construct a walking path and a pedestrian crossing at the parking lot of Matthews/Winters Park to connect its uses to the Dinosaur parking and more trails.
The Dinosaur Lots at the Morrison exit of Interstate 70 are used by commuters, hikers, Red Rocks concert goers and anyone who wants to park a vehicle.
The project also includes a left turn lane into Matthews/Winters Park from the south. Construction is slated to begin later this month and be completed by June.
The 10-foot-wide walking path will link to . The path will also lead to the pedestrian crossing at Colorado 93 leading to the Dakota Ridge Trail, . It will include crossing lights and median.
