Burglars hit two homes in San Miguel County last week, stealing multiple firearms, a trailer and an ATV, among other items.
The burglars likely struck between March 7 and March 11 in the Lone Cone Road area south of Norwood, according to the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office.
At least eight firearms were stolen and other items included ammunition, a hunting bow, a flatbed trailer, an Arctic Prowler ATV, a flat screen TV and fishing equipment.
“This is a serious crime and now we have suspects at-large who are likely heavily armed,” Sheriff Bill Masters said in the release.
Investigators believe the burglars hit one home and drove on to the next home. At some point, the burglars vehicle was stuck in snow and mud. They likely walked back to the first home and stole a tractor, driving it to their stuck vehicle and using the tractor to free their getaway vehicle.
The sheriff’s office described the getaway vehicle as a 2005-2009 Land Rover LR3, possibly silver or white, with rear damage. It should also be without seatbelts, as they were found in a pile, possibly used to move stolen items, the release said.
The stolen flatbed trailer is described as faded blue in color with a wooden bed and short, steel side rails.
The sheriff’s office asked people in the area to keep an eye out for suspects, the suspect vehicle, and stolen property.
The burglars should be considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information on the burglaries or suspects is asked to call 970 728-1911.
