
With the out, March Madness is in full force. Denver will host six games at the Pepsi Center during the opening weekend, which will see the return of former Regis Jesuit star Josh Perkins for Gonzaga.
Here’s a look at players in the NCAA Tournament who played high school ball in Colorado:
No. 8 Colorado Buffaloes (vs. No. 9 Connecticut, 11:30 a.m. Thursday on TNT):
Brett Brady, G, Sr. (Highlands Ranch) — The 21-year-old senior appeared in 10 games for the Buffaloes, averaging 0.9 points and 0.6 rebounds.
Dom Collier, G, So. (Denver East) — A two-time Mr. Colorado Basketball at East, Collier is the starting point guard for the Buffaloes. He has started 32 of the Buffs’ 33 games this season, averaging 7.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and a team-leading 2.9 assists.
Wesley Gordon, F, redshirt Jr. (Sierra) — The 6-foot-9 junior is averaging 7.2 points and 7.6 rebounds in 33 games (32 starts) for CU. He is second on the team in minutes at 27.7 per game. Gordon was a Pac-12 all-defensive team honorable mention.
Mitch Lombard, G, Fr. (Rock Canyon) — Lombard appeared in six games for CU this year.
Josh Repine, G, So. (Kent Denver) — Repine appeared in six games for CU, scoring three points and grabbing two rebounds.
Josh Scott, C, Sr. (Lewis-Palmer/Discovery Canyon) — The leads the team in points (16.1) and rebounds (8.7) and is second in blocked shots (1.7). He was named to the all-Pac-12 first team and all-defensive team.
Xavier Talton, G, Sr. (Sterling) — The senior guard has appeared in all 33 games for CU this season, starting in nine. He’s averaging 4.7 points and 2.5 rebounds, mostly off the bench.
Derrick White, G, Redshirting Sr. (Legend) — A Division II All-American at CU-Colorado Springs, White sat out the 2015-16 season because of NCAA transfer rules.
No. 11 Gonzaga Bulldogs (vs. No. 6 Seton Hall, 7:57 p.m. Thursday on truTV)
Josh Perkins, G, Fr. (Regis Jesuit) — The Bulldogs’ starting point guard is making a homecoming Thursday when Gonzaga takes on Seton Hall at the Pepsi Center. Perkins is averaging 10.3 points, 4.0 assists and 3.4 steals in his second season with the program.
No. 15 Weber State Wildcats (vs. No. 2 Xavier, 7:20 p.m. Thursday on TNT)
Zach Braxton, F/C, redshirt Fr. (Highlands Ranch) — A 2014 All-Colorado selection as a high school senior, Braxton has emerged as a starter for Weber State after redshirting his first season. He started 33-of-34 games for the Wildcats, averaging 6.9 points and 4.2 rebounds.
No. 15 Cal State-Bakersfield Roadrunners (vs. No. 2 Oklahoma, 4 p.m. Friday on TNT)
Brent Wrapp, G, redshirt So. (Fairview) — Started 30-of-32 games for the ‘Runners, averaging 5.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists.
