Getting your player ready...

ran off

By: Nick Groke

When Urban Meyer catches on to your meme, it’s run its course.

The Ohio State football coach “ran off on da plug” after the Fiesta Bowl in January. End of story — or so you’d think. But on the , the over-hyped leads to a backlash and the backlash leads to a backlash to the backlash.

That might be where we are now heading into the NCAA Tournament in Denver. Two months later, running off on da plug is still a thing. (Stay with this for a minute, because you’re about to see it all over your TV.)

At Arkansas-Little Rock’s practice day news conference Wednesday in Denver, two players were asked about their pre-game rituals.

Q. What is your pregame-hype song? Is there a song that you listen to before the game?

ROGER WOODS: It might be ‘Baby Daddy Broke’ by Chief Keef Ft. Gucci Mane.

JOSH HAGINS: Yeah, it’s that one. We have that ‘Running Off On Da Plug Twice’. Those same two every time.

First, Chief Keef is the other guy.

Second, running off on the plug was a dance that came off like five months ago. It’s basically a pantomime of Plies running away from his drug dealer (not once but twice, apparently).

The most confusing party: it’s literally two seconds of the music video, and between all the fruit plates, chair dancing and C-note-littered floors, is probably the least memorable part. See for yourself (the “dance” comes at :45).

And now, it’s a sports thing. Whatever — it’s easier than .

Which brings us to Urban Meyer, who proves even a 51-year-old can run off on the plug.

So those shots of dudes on the bench running in place after a game-tying three? They probably aren’t just warming up. And they’re definitely not doing the running man. They’re running off on the plug. Duh.
