Republican presidential candidate John Kasich speaks at a town hall event at Villanova University on March 16. (Matt Slocum, The Associated Press)

Re: Kasich stays in race, and damages his party, March 22 Jonathan Bernstein column.

I was dumbfounded to read Jonathan Bernstein s column suggesting that John Kasich could be single-handedly destroying the Republican Party. Should that occur, surely it would be mostly attributable to Donald Trump. If there is to be a brokered convention, conventional wisdom may say Ted Cruz will prevail, but the many who seem so appalled by that possibility may turn to Kasich. By staying in the race, Kasich deserves praise for presenting the party with a reasonable nominee.
