California’s Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows could host World Cup ski racing in 2017 for the first time since 1969.
The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association tapped Squaw Valley — host of the 1960 Winter Olympics — as a proposed site for the Audi FIS World Cup over the March 10-11 weekend in 2017. The women’s World Cup Finals head to Aspen March 15-19 next year, marking the culmination of the 2017 season.
USSA on Thursday submitted Squaw-Alpine as a potential women’s slalom and giant slalom venue before the Aspen finals and after the Olympic test event in PyeongChang, South Korea next March. The FIS will make its final decision on the 2017 venues in June.
