A 46-year-old man wanted in El Paso County on suspicion of sex assault allegedly rammed a detective’s car with his vehicle on Friday morning after authorities tried to arrest him.
“I am going to die today,” Lorenzo Brooks told sheriff’s deputies who were trying to take him into custody on a warrant, according to officials.
The county sheriff’s office says it contacted Brooks in downtown Colorado Springs when the confrontation happened about 11:30 a.m.
Brooks fled the area after striking both the detective’s vehicle and another car belonging to a civilian, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. He remains at large.
Brooks is described as black, just over 6 feet tall and as weighing 205 pounds. Authorities say he is bald and has a thin build.
Brooks, in addition to the sex assault charge, is also wanted for failure to appear, felony eluding, criminal mischief and hit-and-run.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Brooks is asked to contact Sergeant Tammy Gugliotta at 719-520-7158 or 719-390-5555.
