Re: Appeals court says Colorado sheriffs can’t sue governor over gun laws, March 23 news story.
Congratulations and thanks to the elected sheriffs of the 10 out of 64 Colorado counties who displayed the courage and good judgment not to join the rest of the counties sheriffs in suing our governor over recent tightening of background-check standards for gun purchases and modest restrictions on magazine capacity.
We taxpayers will never get an accounting of the legal bills and costs incurred by all state residents for nine days of federal court litigation, followed by federal appeal which ultimately determined that these wannabe legislators had no standing to sue in the first place.
These elected officials need to be reminded that they took an oath to uphold Colorado s laws — not to try to invalidate them through taxpayer-funded frivolous lawsuits.
