Five months after , Denver’s four-year-old River North Brewery is ready to reopen Saturday outside its namesake neighborhood.

The needed more production and retail space than its tight location could provide, but the owners didn’t bet on being priced out of the hot neighborhood when the brewery’s landlord sold the property to an apartment developer. So River North set off for Adams County and prepped a warehouse space at 6021 Washington St.

At nearly 9,000 square feet — double the size of the old space — the new facility has a brewhouse with a four-vessel, 15-barrel system. Its brewing capacity will be 10,000 barrels a year, the brewery says, and the space allows for a fermentation capacity of 4,000 to 5,000 barrels a year, triple its previous production.

Also growing is the taproom, which has more seating and eventually will have 16 draft lines.

“We can now brew more and better beer than ever before,” founder and brewer Matt Hess said in a news release. “We’ll have the flexibility to push the boundaries of styles and techniques far beyond our previous endeavors. Not to mention, we’ll be able to host many more friends in our taproom. We’re ready and, quite frankly, we’re damn thirsty.”

River North’s Grand Reopening Party this weekend will include food trucks and tours as well as rationings of the brewery’s staple and rare beers. The latter include limited releases of Anniversary Ale 4 ¼, Funk the Man #4 and Whiskey Barrel Quandary.

Hours are noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. For now, marketing director Patrick Annesty says, the taproom will be open only on weekends, but that could expand to some weekdays in coming months.
