Interview with Scott Larson, president

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: I started glazing in a family-owned residential glass shop during high school that specialized in vinyl windows, mirrors and screens. I learned many aspects of the business, including fabrication, installation, inventory management and custom cutting of decorative mirrors. I moved on to a larger business working on large-scale projects. There, I expanded my knowledge to include glazing on high-rise buildings, which required specific safety regulations, specialized equipment and unique materials. After two years, I decided smaller, commercial buildings were more my speed. I started working for a glass shop that specialized in one- to three-story buildings and fabricated their own storefront materials. Since then, I have mastered commercial doors, operators, framing, installation, kitchens and bathrooms, including showers, mirrors, backsplashes and countertops. I embrace the opportunity to lead the day-to-day operations of the company, striving for customer and employee satisfaction.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: We have a dedicated and knowledgeable crew with high standards for quality and customer care. We are committed to providing honest, dependable service at a competitive price. We want you to know all your options when making decisions on repair or replacement of your windows or showers. We also do much of the production work in house, resulting in faster turnaround times for our customers. A&A Glass has been known throughout the years as the place to go for hard-to-find parts for windows, screens, screen doors, closets and patio doors. Our installer’s extensive knowledge in available parts and troubleshooting capabilities from years of experience in the field offer our customers as many options as possible in making home repair decisions.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: As new projects come in the door, each brings with it a new challenge and problem to solve. We love the investigation process of finding the best solutions for our customers. Whether it’s finding a new product on the market or searching high and low for the hard-to-find part, we are up to the challenge.

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: Construction is booming, with many large-scale government and non-government projects. This is a great sign for our economic growth, but it tends to make finding glaziers difficult. There are far more jobs for glaziers in Colorado than there are glaziers right now.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: We are blessed to have two beautiful girls. We adopted our now 6-year-old in 2011 and are currently in the process of adopting her 3-year-old sister.
