A double-fatal traffic crash in Arapahoe County and multiple accidents on Interstate 25 in Denver knotted the Friday afternoon commute for a great many motorists.

The two-vehicle, double-fatal crash has closed Colorado Boulevard between East Arapahoe Road and Weaver Avenue.

Colorado Boulevard has been shut down in both directions in the area, the county sheriff’s office said. It could be several hours before the road is reopened.

Julie Brooks, a sheriff’s office spokeswoman, said investigators are headed to the scene.

The wreck happened about 3:30 p.m.

One person was being detained in connection to the crash, the sheriff’s office said in a Twitter post.

A multi-vehicle accident on I-25 in Denver temporarily shut down four northbound lanes at Downing Street, according to the Denver Police Department.

There were no serious injuries in the I-25 crash, according to the 4:32 p.m. police Twitter post. Driver should expect long delays in the area.

Shortly after the four lanes at Downing were cleared another accident blocked the right northbound lane on I-25 at Speer Boulevard, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
