A Denver-area teen, test driving a go-cart that was for sale in Monument, died Tuesday after he was hit by a pickup truck.

The incident happened at about 8:50 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of Beacon Lite Road, according to a Monument Police Department media release.

The 17-year-old victim had gone to Monument in response to an advertisement about a go-cart for sale. While test driving the go-cart, the teen drove onto the road and was hit by a truck in a southbound lane.

The teenager died at the scene. An investigation is ongoing.
