A man sleeping in his car near a Colorado Springs park was arrested early Wednesday morning after police found he had a toy gun that looked real and 8 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
Jeremy Brambila, 41, of Colorado Springs, was arrested on drug possession charges at around 1:49 a.m. near Dublin Park, according to a Colorado Springs police report.
Police were called to 2400 Roundtop Drive on a report of a suspicious person.
When police arrived they spotted a black handgun on the floor.
“The gun was a toy, although it looked very real,” the report says.
Police also discovered several drug paraphernalia items in the car and 8 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
Brambila has an extensive criminal record including mostly misdemeanor arrests including public fighting, dating to 1991, according to court records.
He was convicted of weapon possession by a previous offender in July 2012. He was placed on probation for four years at the time.
In 1995, Brambila was sentenced to three years on probation for a felony drug possession charge.
