Jermaine Jones had to wait six games to play for the Rapids, but he made his presence felt in hurry — scoring his first goal and notching his first assist in burgundy in front of hundreds of fans Saturday night. .
Jones scored 22 minutes in off a low cross from defender Mekeil Williams.
“I took a look inside and I saw him,” Williams said. “So I played him in.”

After New York Red Bulls tied the game at 1-1, the Rapids broke ahead again. Jones played a quick one touch pass to Dominique Badji into space. Badji buried the finish in the 82nd minute, tucking it past 2015 MLS goalkeeper of the year Oscar Robles.

Badji very nearly made it 3-1 in stoppage time when he had a breakaway, 1-v-1 with Robles. But from almost the same angle, he put it off the post.
“I wish I had that second one, but happy to get the win,” Badji said. “Happy to finally get on the scoresheet and keep it going.”
